Otisburg Update 12.2.13

Hey, less than 4 months since the last update!

Yeah, I know, we have dropped the ball on this thing but like we said last last time, Steve and Scott have been spreading themselves pretty thin lately with other projects.

Add to that Scott getting a new job AND he has decided to go back to school to work on a masters so he is studying for his entrance exam for that on top of learning a new job. Steve, on the other hand, is not so ambitious in that respect but he has been busy nonetheless.

So anyway, we do have an update for you. And it is pretty good news. Well, I suppose it is good news anyway.

The new EP is scheduled for release on December 10. That's right folks! Next Tuesday, the new Otisburg EP will see the light of day.

The EP is titled Ubergeek and will include 5 songs.

In the next few days, we will post another update with the track listing and maybe if you're lucky the cover art.

Until then.....

Otisburg Update 8.14.13

Not much to report on since the last update in May.

The 4 completed songs for the new Otisburg EP have still not been mastered yet but they are going to try to get that process done soon, or they may just release the EP without mastering the songs. Who knows.

It seems that both Steve and Scott have been spreading themselves too thin with all of their various "extracurricular" activities, the new EP has not been at the forefront of their thought process.

The only new thing to report is that once the new EP is released, it might be the last full on punk rock album you will hear from the band in a while. Steve is planning on re-launching the band down in the OKC area as a folk-punk style band. More news will follow on this in the coming weeks. He is still trying to get all of the principles together.

Stay tuned!

New Update 5.31.13

Good Lord we gotta try to remember to keep this thing updated somehow!

As I said in the last post, however, Steve and Scott have a lot of things on their plate and unfortunately Otisburg tends to get set on the back burner from time to time. So here is an update. Otisburg is still going to release a new EP and hopefully, if all goes well, it will be released before the end of the year. The way things are looking, there will be 4 songs included on the EP and all of the basic tracks for those songs are complete. The next step is to go through them and ensure the mix is right on them and then get them mastered. Once they are mastered, are at the very least nearing the end of the mastering process, an actual release date will be announced. \

Again, sorry it has been so long since the last update but I'm hoping to try and keep this thing updated more frequently (famous last words).

Otisburg Update: 2.28.13

Hello Otisburg fans!

Steve here. I know it has been a while since we have posted an update and many of you seem to be wondering what is going on with Otisburg.

Well, we have not completely disappeared but at the same time both Scott and I have a lot of other things on our plate and aren't the greatest at keeping this site updated.

That being said, the long-awaited follow up to Born Yesterday is still forthcoming. Still unsure of the date. Almost all of the basic tracks for the CD have been recorded so the initial recording stage is nearly complete. Once the basic tracks are completed, the mixing process will begin and then the mastering. After that, we will have a much better idea of when the CD will be released.

On another note, you can keep track of Otisburg updates as they come in on the various social media platforms that we are on. Here are some links to those websites so you can "join" "like" "follow" "become a fan" or do whatever the site allows you to do to show that you are fans of Otisburg.

As always, stay tuned for further details!

Sweet Love Now on Bandcamp

The song "Sweet Love" which was previously available as a download here on the Otisburg website, has now been released as a 'single' on our Bandcamp page!

In addition to the song "Sweet Love" the 'single' also includes another demo track that was recorded around the same time as the "Sweet Love" song called "Hands Off."

Keep in mind that both of these songs are only demos and not meant to be any sort of highly-produced songs. They are meant merely to give you a taste of what type of stuff is in store on the next release, which is coming around the corner.

Enjoy!!!

Rhapsody, eMusic, Last.fm, Zune, among others.

So It Begins!

The stage is set for the next Otisburg release!

The writing has begun!

No plans on a release date right now but the plan (keep in mind I said the plan) is to record and release a FULL-LENGTH album!

So as I said we are not going to announce a release date and there is no plan to come up with a title just yet. As this stage we are just working on the writing process.

Our plan is document the entire process from beginning to end of this release so if you want to keep updated with it just keep coming back here and I will be posting as often as possible with what is going on with it and what stages we are at with it.

Right now, we have about 10 songs that we are thinking of putting on there and continuing to write more stuff so that we will have a pretty good batch of tunes to pick from when it comes time to record them.

So anyway, stay tuned. We'll try to keep this updated as often as possible.

Born Yesterday Now Available!

Born Yesterday is now available for your listening pleasure (or displeasure) at Virb.com.

It will soon be available for download (Right now it is only available for streaming).

The decision was made to release this album as an internet-only release. This decision was reached due partly to financial constraints but also due to the fact that we really aren't in this for the money so we figured we would just release it for those that wanted to hear it and try to get the word out to those who don't know us.

Artwork Near Completion!

Sorry it has taken so long to update this thing.

The artwork has been coming along very slowly since I last updated this but finally picked back up here a few days ago.

The artwork is all but done and the CD should be ready to go to print within a couple of weeks (or sooner even!).

I will try and remain diligent in updating this site to keep you all updated on when Born Yesterday will finally be released.

Born Yesterday Coming Soon!

The final mix of "Goodbye California" is finally complete!

As soon as the cover/inside art is finished up (shouldn't take too long, the concept has been done for a while) it will be shipped off to be duplicated and a release date will be forthcoming.

Stay tuned!!!

Born Yesterday Update

So here is a bit of good news in an otherwise dreary situation.

It appears that the rough mixes for "Goodbye California" were somewhat salvageable after what I like to call the Great Hard-Drive Crash of 2006. Scott has been working very hard at getting a final mix for that song completed.

Along with that song, we have some other stuff that we should be able to piece together and package with the final mix of "Goodbye California" and get Born Yesterday released, although, only as an E.P.
No clue as to any thoughts of a release date but stay tuned. I will be sure to keep you informed.

The Bad News is.....

There is no gentle way of saying this. A couple of weeks ago the hard drive which stored our music files crashed. Unfortunately, there was no backup so this resulted in all of the rough mixes that were done for the Born Yesterday CD were lost. The end result of this of course being that there will not be a Born Yesterday CD released any time soon.

Release Date Unknown

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the anticipated release date of the CD will not be early July. In fact, it might not be in July at all. At this time, we are unsure of the time frame we will be able to release it but will be sure to keep you updated as events warrant.

In other news, we would like to announce that the title of the CD will be BORN YESTERDAY.

 Stay tuned!

More Album Updates

This weekends session for the new Otisburg EP went very well. Steve came in to the home studio to do both his guitar parts and his vocals all on Saturday. I was a bit apprehensive about our odds of getting everything finished that quickly, but of course things went just fine.

First of all, Steve came in and for the most part just nailed his parts dead on. Second, we were much better prepared for this than ever before from an engineering standpoint. I knew exactly how I wanted to mic everything and except for the time spent dialing in guitar tones, it was pretty much just a matter of setting levels and hitting record.

Thankfully the efficiency level we were working at was a Godsend because about halfway through the session there was a car crash out in front of the home studio and we rushed outside to help. Nobody was hurt but my parked truck was run into as part of it, unfortunately. It suffered some pretty minor damage and it sounds like their insurance is going to cover it so no harm no foul. The only issue is we lost about an hour and a half getting everything sorted out and waiting for the police to come take a report and so on. But then we just went in and kept trucking and finished the vocals up around 6pm. So all in all it was about a 6 hour session.

The situation with the recording now is that all the raw vocal, bass, guitar, and drum tracks are finished. There may be some drum overdubs well want to do listening back. In addition, a lot of background vocals need to be added. Brant and I intend to get together tonight for a production section and talk about what we want to do. On top of everything else, I am getting really excited to add some organ on one of the tracks. The song has a very early-Weezerish vibe and I think we can polish it off nicely with a little organ.
